Congratulations, Class of 2013 Smithies!!
arianna huffington’s speech was badass:
“you can complete a project by dropping it.”
“now i guess it’s no big surprise that the image of success created by men would be, yes, a long, phallic-shaped line.”
“i want to do old alistair one better, and tell you that you don’t get to the top by marrying someone. a much simpler way is to sleep your way to the top.”
“…i’m talking about sleep in the literal sense.”
Back in action!
Hey all! So I’ve been away from this blog since school has ended and it seems like time has gotten the best of me, but I will be running this blog throughout the summer and will continue to answer any questions if you have them! If it interests you, feel fee to inbox me and I would be happy to give you my email address if that is an easier method of communication.
I hope you’re all having lovely summer vacations so far!

Hi Amanda! I don't know if you're still running the tumblr but I thought I'd send you a message anyway. I was accepted to Smith back in 2011 and was unable to accept my offer of admission due to financial reasons. I decided to attend another women's college and deeply regret that I did not pick Smith. I'm about to go abroad in the fall (for Junior year) and would like to transfer to Smith in January 2014. Is Smith accepting transfer students for January 2014? Thanks so much! :)
Hi! I’ve been away from the blog for a while but am still running it :) I’m so glad to hear that you’re still interested in coming to Smith! The college accepts both Fall and Spring transfer students, so I would encourage you to apply for the semester that feels right for you. Feel free to let me know if I can help you in the process in any way! Good luck!
Hi! I am attending a community college right now and was set on transferring to a very specific school, but have come to realize that I may want to double major in something and women's studies. I am thinking of transferring by either my sophomore spring or junior fall, so I have started to look at schools. What was the transfer process from community college to Smith like and how does Smith offer its transfer students needed support? Thank you!!!
Hi there! Transferring from a Community College is much like transferring from a 4-year institution in that you are required to go through the same steps and submit the same documents. However, students who transfer from CC’s often are transferring with an Associate’s Degree in a field which plays into what kinds of credits you are transferring in. In this way, it can be a bit complicated to get all of your credits in place. I ended up losing some credits because I completed an Education program that was pretty specific to my school. BUT, that being said, Smith is also very generous about granting credit if you ask for it :) Smith offers so much support and really knows a lot about the transfer process. We have student-run organizations just for transfer students, we have a student intern/liaison in the Office of Admissions who is a transfer student (thats me!), and plenty of faculty and staff who are very knowledgeable and willing to help however they can. I would be happy to get you the contact information for some of my colleagues in the office of admissions that might be able to give you more specific answers if that is what you’re looking for. GOOD LUCK! :)
